Maintenance & Care of Heavy Work Saree
These sarees have an inordinate amount of stitched or woven work, that can either be handwoven or machine-woven. And so these sarees need special attention while washing followed by after-wash care.
Try to never set them for a machine wash. Because machines can create a significant tug at the woven works on the saree and dishevel it irreversibly
Try to give them to the dry cleaners instead
In case, you want to wash them at home, always bucket-wash them with a mild detergent
Do not directly put them under sunlight for drying, as that may cause significant fading of colours
Do not store them in plastic bags if you have zari work on them. The moisture inside the plastic bag will turn the zari black
In case of stains, always wash it with water as soon as possible. Later on, you can use petroleum for stain removal
Iron while the saree is still damp, from an up-side-down position
Do not wring your heavy work saree too hard as that will cause its thread to come out.
